The new 7th SMA Alumni Club (SMAAC) Management Committee was elected following the Annual General Meeting of the SMAAC Executive Committee (EXCO) on 26 May 2007.
Outgoing President Kek Sei Wee rounded up what the 6th SMAAC Management Committee had achieved in the past year. These included fun and meaningful events such as BBQ Night, Beach Cleanup, Night Cycling, Financial Planning Talk, Career Talk, Dance Classes and the very first Dinner-and-Dance. The SMAAC also launched for the first time, a portal where alumni and students alike can share their views, browse photographs and get the latest SMAAC news.
Of his tenure, Sei Wee said, “The past year marked a few firsts for our club - the first D & D on a cruise ship and the first SMAAC website. The Management Committee achieved more than what we’d intended. I’m grateful that our efforts were very well received. It has been an eventful and satisfying term.”
The EXCO appointed Paul Ni Yang from MST as the new President of the 7th SMAAC Management Committee. Hu Sha, Garlapati Reddy and Lui Ho Man were elected Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer respectively. A new Publicity and Publication Sub-Committee was appointed to manage the SMAAC website.
Paul has already hatched his plans for the new committee. On the SMAAC mission, the new president said that he will leverage on the “great job” his predecessors had done to strengthen the global alumni network. Paul’s vision is to provide outstanding yet practical service to SMA graduates, encourage them to serve and promote the SMA brand to attract global talent. He added that SMAAC members can look forward to a full spectrum of events, covering health, fitness, social, community service and educational activities. |
